DG Assam Rifles reviews Nagaland security situation

The newly appointed Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lieutenant General R K Rana, reviewed the security situation in Nagaland, Assam Rifles sources said here today.
Rana was on a two-day maiden visit to the state capital - Kohima since yesterday called on Governor Ashwani Kumar and discussed steps being taken to further consolidate the security situation in the state, according to press release issued by PRO IGAR (North).
During the course of his visit, the DG Assam Rifles had wide ranging discussions with the Governor to include the development projects being undertaken by the Assam Rifles in Nagaland.
The ways in which the Assam Rifles could contribute to enhance job opportunities, education and sports facilities for the people of Nagaland were discussed, the PRO said.
The DGAR also inaugurated the "Pineapple Canning Plant" established under Military Civic Action programme at Medziphema under Dimapur district.
Prior to his departure today, the DGAR reminded all ranks of Assam Rifles that we should live up to our motto of "Friends of the Hill People".
