"We are enquiring the incident. We have asked for the report on the incident," Arun Mishra, DG of Directorate General of Civil Aviation told PTI.

It was reported that on Saturday two Boeing 737-800 planes, belonging to a private carrier, had come close to each other breaching the minimum stipulated distance between two aircraft flying in the air.

One aircraft was flying to Chennai from Kolkata while the other one was flying to Visakhapatnam from Mumbai via Hyderabad.

The two planes reportedly came 5 km of each other, a fourth of the minimum stipulated distance that aircraft must maintain in the air as they came on converging paths 41,000 ft above the Bay of Bengal.
