Director General of police (DGP) Sita Ram Mardi today cautioned the investigating officers against fabricating evidence by implicating innocent people.
Addressing a meeting of SPs, DHPs and SHOs of southern range comprising Shimla, Kinnaur, Sirmaur, Solan and Baddi police districts, Mardi said law and order should be maintained in the state.
"It is the duty of the police to ensure that no innocent person is harassed and no guilty person goes scot free. The tendency to file charge-sheet in the absence of credible evidence should be shunned," he added.
He stressed on the need to create awareness among the school and college students about drug menace.
