DGP makes surprise visit in civil dress during night hours

Director General of Police S P Vaid today assessed the security arrangements ahead of the Republic Day celebrations here.
Vaid was accompanied by DIG Jammu, Ashkoor Ahmed on a surpise visit of Jammu City and adjoining areas to assess the arrangements ahead of during night hours.
They visited various areas of Jammu City in civil dress and private car. He took stock of the police functioning in these areas and deployment of personnel, a spokesman said.
The DGP briefed senior officers about the visit at a meeting held at headquarters, it is learnt.
He directed the officers to take immediate steps and rectify the shortcomings that were observed and also urged for "intelligent policing" and dedication besides enhancing arrangements on naka points and night patrolling.

He said that field officers must be present and supervise the arrangements during night hours.
