A 57-year-old dhaba owner and his 26-year-old son were shot dead allegedly by four men over a petty issue in outer Delhi's Najafgarh area, police said today.
The incident took place last night when Mayank was serving food to a group of men, and one of them turned the water cooler towards their side. The other customers asked the waiter to turn the cooler towards them, they said.
Mayank told one of the waiters to place the cooler at a location so that none of the customers are inconvenienced.
This enraged the group and they started fight with Mayank.
Other waiters in the dhaba tried to intervene but all of sudden, one man out of the group took out a pistol and allegedly shot at Mayank in the neck and he collapsed on the spot, police said.
After shooting Mayank, the attackers tried to escape. Meanwhile, Mayank's father Shyam rushed towards them in an attempt to catch them but they allegedly shot him in the forehead and he died on the spot, they said.
A staff member of the dhaba informed the police about the incident.
Mayank was rushed to nearby Venkateshwar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment today. Police said that they have identified the accused and one of them, Kareem Khan, has been nabbed.
