The padayatra, organised in connection with the Laksha Deepotsava of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, was attended by thousands of devotees yesterday.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari (Chief Adminstrator) Veerendra Heggade said he was proud of the participation of thousands of people in the yatra.
Heggade said since he rose to the post of Dharmadhikari at the age of 21 he had ensured that the image of the temple was not affected in anyway and discipline was maintained.
Dharmasthala was not a private institution but a religious organisation where everything was being done under the law. He alleged that some vested interests had been trying to find fault with the administration of the temple which was carrying out many welfare programmes for the poor and needy. He said the love and affection of the people was more than the Padma Vibhushan he received from the Central government.
