India opener Shikhar Dhawan, who is in a sublime form in the ongoing Champions Trophy, has narrated interesting moments of his career in a candid chat with comedian Vikram Sathye on the show 'What the Duck'.
The show is aired on Viu, the video-on-demand service.
Dhawan who scored his third fifty plus score in the CT yesterday against South Africa, to help India storm into the semis, recalls the time of his Test debut against Australia in Mohali in 2013.
According to a media release, Dhawan on the show talked about how his nervousness was palpable as he walked out from the dressing room for his debut innings against a fearsome Australian attack.
The left-handed swashbuckling batsman also revealed how spirituality and persistence has helped him out over the years to deal with failures.
When Sathaye quizzed that how did he develop interest in Sufi music, Dhawan said, "I started listening to Sufi music when I was 21. I only like songs with strong lyrics. I am very fond of ghazals. "Gurdas Mann Sir's song 'Mawa thandiya chawa chawa kaun karein' is very inspirational. The verse that I liked the most means the care that a mother takes of her child is compared to the shade (chawa), and you can never pay back that grace ever in life, no matter how hard you try.
"Many others like Satinder Satraj and Hans Raj Hans have written good lyrics. So I connect the meaning of these songs to my life and it keeps me calm, away from negativity and leads me to the path of spirituality," he added.
The Delhi batsman also revealed the logic behind his signature Shah Rukh Khan touch celebration style, it added.
When Sathaye asked whether his connection with Bollywood is Shahrukh Khan due to his celebration style and was it natural ?, pat came the reply, "The celebration style is natural. When I scored my first century, I naturally lifted my arms up, feeling very happy, looking at the Almighty above. That became my signature style. All these things are natural, not practised.
