The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) today welcomed the Centre's decision to form National Judicial Commission for appointment of Judges in the High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
"The legal fraternity of India hails the decision of the Union Government to form National Judicial Commission for appointment of Judges in the High Court and the Supreme Court of India," Rajiv Khosla, President of DHCBA, said.
"The Bar has been demanding the same since long as it was felt that the present system of appointment by collegium has only helped judges to appoint their own relatives or acquaintances which resulted in frustration amongst the lawyers who despite being most suitable for the constitutional post, remain deprived," he said.
He said the Bar expects that the members of National Judicial Commission would consult the legal fraternity and give due consideration to the inputs provided by the Bar.
