Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL) wanted Tamil Nadu to contribute at least 10 per cent to its national business, from the present six per cent, a top company official said today.
"Though Tamil Nadu is a key and growing market for the company, we are not happy with the contribution of six per cent and want a 10 per cent as is being given by other (10) zones," Deo Shankar Tripath, President and COO, DHFL, told reporters here.
Tripathi, here to launch the DHFL Diwali Dhamaka Offer, providing customers an opportunity to avail attractive discounts on processing fees for home loans till October 31, said, with increasing urbanisation, demographic changes and rising household income Tamil Nadu is well-poised to further enhance its contribution.
The company, which has witnessed a 48 per cent growth in 2013-14 in the state, with a Rs 1,866 crore portfolio is expected to see 65 to 70 per cent growth during this financial year, Tripathi said.
There was a housing shortage of 1.65 million units in Tamil Nadu, with a population of 7.41 crore, Tripathi said, adding, there was increasing demand from the middle income housing, fuelled by small and medium builders.
Considering the scenario, DHFL has spread its Tamil Nadu operations across 34 branch and service centres, by recently strengthening its network through three branches and 10 service centres in key locations, Tripathi said.
