Dhumal asks time bound inquiry into Congress 'chargesheet'
Press Trust of India Shimla Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today urged Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh to order a time-bound probe into the Congress "chargesheet" by a sitting High Court judge to "put an end to systematic campaign to tarnish the image of BJP leaders in the state".
In a letter to the governor, Dhumal said, "concocted and baseless news reports have been appearing in the media about the probe into the charge-sheet."
Congress, when in opposition in the state, had prepared a chargesheet against the BJP government to highlight the alleged scams in its tenure. In August 2012, the Congress leaders had submitted the chargesheet to President of India.
Most of the charges were "baseless" and the Congress government was simply sensationalising the allegations to derive political mileage with an eye on Lok Sabha polls, he said.
The government also made a big issue of "phone tapping" but nothing has been done in this regard to book the culprits, Dhumal said.
