Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today reviewed the overall security situation at a meeting attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and ISI chief Lt Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam among others.
The Interior Minister informed those present that during the last meeting between the dialogue committees, it was emphasised that all-encompassing talks would be conducted with the Taliban 'Shura' and it is "high time" that the dialogue process achieves tangible results, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said.
Serious apprehensions were expressed over recent terrorism incidents and commitment to take effective action against the perpetrators behind such incidents was reiterated during the meeting at the Prime Minister's residence.
The Inter-Services Intelligence chief briefed the Prime Minister about measures taken after the recent terror attacks and about the overall security situation in the country.
He assured that those involved in recent terrorism incidents would be brought to justice and their identity would be made public, the statement said.
