Exhorting the students to embrace the challenges arising out of the changing security scenario and asking them to work with innovation, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) here complemented the DRDO laboratories.
Parrikar visited the DIAT here to deliver convocation address and distribute the degree certificates. A total of 141 students received PhD, MS and M Tech degrees.
"I am happy to learn that currently DIAT is offering 25 specialisations, in eight generic M Tech programmes and due to excellent track record, DIAT has been placed in category A of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and adjudged at 38th rank by the National Institutional Ranking Framework.
"DIAT is fully complementing DRDO laboratories by carrying out fundamental and exploratory research leading to development of new science and technology," he said.
"I earnestly hope that you will be ever eager to embrace challenges arising out of continually changing security scenarios and that you will work innovatively, ensure inclusivity, network effectively and succeed in the midst of a fiercely competitive world and will contribute in a big way to the self reliance in defence science and technology," he said.
The convocation was attended by Dr S Christopher, secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, Governing Council, DIAT; and Dr Surendra Pal, Vice Chancellor, DIAT.
