"I have never mocked Prime Minister Modi. I was only speaking about the changing trends of social media. If I want to oppose someone, I will do so openly, but the media should not put words in my mouth about something I haven't spoken at all," Thackeray said on the sidelines of a function at Vile Parle in suburban Mumbai.
Addressing a meet of the party's youth wing two days back, Thackeray had reportedly asked MNS activists not to get carried away while using social media and also took potshots at Modi for making "tall promises" and referred to a joke doing the rounds on social media.
He also urged social media users not to mock Modi's promise of "acche din".
On the issue of price rise, Thackeray said, "Nobody likes prices being raised by the government and no government likes to raise prices... But given the country's current economic scenario, tough decisions need to be taken," he said.
