DIFF to begin from November 3

The 5th Dharamsala International Film Festival (DIFF) will held from November 3 to November 6, 2016 in McLeod Ganj here said organizers today.
DIFF will be presented by White Crane Arts and Media, a trust founded by veteran filmmakers Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam.
It aims to promote contemporary cinema, art and independent media practices in the Himalayan regions, they said.
"Last year 5000 cinema enthusiasts from across the global attended DIFF. Some of India's best-known film critics attended the event," Sarin said.
Co-Director DIFF Tenzing said, "We hope to continue building on the qualities for which DIFF has become known. Essentially, showcasing an excellent selection of films from India and around the globe."
He informed this year DIFF Children's Film Programme is being curated by children's media specialist, Monica Wahi who selected the films last year.

"The directors of the first six films in DIFF 2016 will be attending the festival," he said.
The first six films include,A Syrian Love Story by Sean McAllister, Kammatipaadam by Rajeev Ravi, A Korean in Paris by Jeon Soo-il, Sonita by Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami, The Island Funeral by Pimpaka Towira and Lathe Joshi by Mangesh Joshi
DIFF 2016 will continues its Film Fellows programme to enable budding filmmakers from the Indian Himalayan regions to attend the festival and participate in mentorship sessions, the organisers said.
Filmmakers Umesh Kulkarni and Anupama Srinivasan will mentor the fellows, they added.
"This year the venue will be the Tibetan Children's Village. Films will be screened in two auditoriums on the campus with all other events, including master classes, panel discussions, workshops and a food and craft fair all located within walking distance,"said Ritu.
She said that DIFF 2016 registration is opened and can be done online on Book My Show.
