Mizoram Public Works minister Lal Thanzara today said that the road conditions in the state were bad especially those being looked after by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) but this happens every year during monsoon.

Addressing the ruling party workers at the Congress Bhavan here, Lal Thanzara said no government could maintain roads during the peak of monsoon.

The people should understand that all the roads were not under the state Public Works Department (PWD) and many of them were under the Union MoRTH, in which the state government could not intervene even if it wanted to, Lal Thanzara, the younger brother of state chief minister Lal Thanhawla, who recently got the PWD portfolio said.
