Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh announced here today that his party would waive off loans for farmers the extent of Rs 51,000 if it was voted to power in this year's Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.
Addressing a public meeting organised by the Congress, he made three more promises to be fulfilled if it won the Assembly elections including waiving off power bills of farmers and the poor as well as providing "one-point" electricity connections.
He said that though long ago the Jana Sangh, the forerunner of today's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was dominated by people who were humble and used to move around on bicycles, all that had changed after the BJP got dominated by power brokers and contractors.
