Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said here today that in case the BJP fails to win this year's assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should take a pledge not to contest elections for ten years.
"Before the 2003 assembly elections in the state, I had taken a pledge not to contest for ten years if the Congress lost them and I have stuck to it," he said at a function to unveil the statue of former minister Amolak Chand Chhajed at Karhi, around 30 km from here.
Later, while talking to reporters, Singh avoided a question on whom the Congress would project as chief minister before assembly elections.
The former chief minister alleged that MP's law and order was deteriorating, crime was rising and the state government protected criminals and the mafia.
