"BPF had won the polls to Bodoland Territorial Council with support from all communities including Bodos, Koch Rajbonshis, Muslims, Bengalis ... The party should treat all communities equally," Singh told reporters at the state Congress head office here.

The Congress leader was in the city to participate in a coordination committee meeting of the party ahead of the panchayat polls in Assam early next year.

Singh said BPF should submit proof of presence of illegal immigrants among people who were displaced during the recent violence in lower Assam and stop making provocative statements.

"If BPF leaders believe that there are illegal immigrants among the displaced people they should submit details like names and addresses. Otherwise they should refrain from making any provocative comments," he said.

BPF has opposed resettlement of displaced people without verification of land documents and other materials.

However, the alliance between Congress and BPF would continue. Congress was in favour of strong relations with BPF and the two will work together to win the ensuing panchayat polls, he added. MORE
