Dikshit sets up committee to help traders, entrepreneurs

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today constituted a Board, having members from both government and industry chambers, to remove bottlenecks for better industrial growth.
The Delhi Trade Board, comprising 27 representatives of various trade and industry bodies and 10 members from government departments, will examine various difficulties being faced by traders and entrepreneurs and will recommed solutions.
Commissioner of Trade and Taxes Prashant Goyal will function as member-secretary of the Board.
"The Board has been set up to provide an effective mechanism to maintain continuous dialogue between traders and the government. It will apprise the government about problems being faced by the traders and offer solutions," Dikshit, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said.
She said the Board will also focus on measures to improve tax collection and suggest specific measures to help the government plug leakage in revenue collection.
"It will also examine problems being faced by the trading community due to certain provisions in Delhi Master Plan. The Board will also delve into various issues relating to municipal bodies that have affected the traders and entrepreneurs," she said.
The Chief Minister said government has also constituted a number of sub-committees pertaining to different sectors which will suggest specific measures for specific trades.
"This would go a long way in dealing specific issues related to specific sectors and trades.
