Former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, facing allegations of irregulrities in two separate water supply related decisions dating back to her tenure, has written to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung seeking details and clearing her position on the tanker issue.
Dikshit also said that she was yet to receive the notice issued by the Anti-Corruption Branch pertaining to the other case -- the alleged water meter scam, for which the agency has requested her to inform it about a convenient time and place for questioning to take place.
"I have not received any notice. They have leaked it to the media but I have not received it," Dikshit said when asked about the status of the case from her end. She had previously termed the cases as "politically motivated".
On the alleged water tanker scam, that runs into around 400 crore as claimed by a report prepared by Water Minister Kapil Mishra, she said in the letter that she has apprised the LG about the technicalities involved in the decision.
"I said that the decision where the tankers are concerned, there's a system in the Jal Board. It's a huge committee of officers including the finance secretary, members of the MCD, two MLAs and whole host of senior and junior engineers. We take policy decisions and then they work out the details," Dikshit said.
While one of the cases involve alleged irregularities in allotting work to a private company at DJB's Bhagirathi water treatment plant in North-East Delhi, the other pertains to alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of four lakh AMR (automatic meter reader) and non-AMR water meters.
