"It is being observed for a long time that the letters sent by DIPP to some of these associations/federations are not delivered and returned to the department. The reason for this may be that their addresses may not be updated on their websites," Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) said in a communication.
It clarified that DIPP deals in policy issues in respect of these items.
To formulate any policy or making any decision on a specific item, manufacturers' associations or federations concerned are consulted and the decision is taken only after taking into account their views, it said.
The 29 sectors include soaps, candles, photographic raw films and papers, wood and plywood, glass and glassware products, imitation jewellery and packaging materials.
