Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh today asked the state government to discontinue the protocol of according guard of honour to him upon his arrival and departure from the Raj Bhavan and during district tours, a spokesperson said.
A letter expressing Singh's wish, that the tradition of according the guard of honour to him be stopped, has been sent to the state government today, the Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
Earlier in January, Singh had sought the state home department's opinion on whether or not this protocol could be discontinued.
The home department, in its letter dated June 11, stated that the guard of honour could be discontinued.
Following this, Singh, a former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, wrote to the state government asking for its discontinuation.
Going forward, no such arrangements will be made for Kalyan.
