BJP leader Dr Dineshanand Goswami today strongly opposed the decision of the Kolhan University to discontinue admission in the science stream at graduation course in colleges affiliated to it on the grounds that the colleges did not have sanctioned posts of lecturers.
The decision of the University came to fore only when the Intermediate passed students seeking admission in BSc in colleges situated in the rural areas of Kolhan region comprising East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts, were denied admission, Goswami said.
The admission in BSC course in Baharagora college in East Singhbhum district, Singhbhum College, Chandil and K C College, Seraikela (both in Seraikela-Kharswan district) were banned following the decision taken about a week ago by the university, he said.
Expressing concern over the uncertainty looming large over the future of the hundreds of poor students in rural pockets, Goswami claimed that it was the responsibility of the university to sanction posts of teachers and not the students.
Goswami demanded that the science subjects in these colleges should continue like before and the university decision should be withdrawn.
