Dist admn constitutes committee to revise passenger fares

The district administration in Kathua today constituted a committee to revise the fares of vehicular services for passengers in the wake of repeated decrease of prices of petrol and diesel.
"The move is aimed at lessening the burden on passengers and students. The committee shall examine, review and formulate fares for various routes and types of vehicles plying on these routes," Deputy Commissioner of Kathua, Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary said.
The committee would be headed by Regional Transport Officer, Kathua, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, besides Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM Hiranagar and SDM Basohli, ARTO as its members.
"The committee will formulate fares for various routes and furnish report by Jan 27 for necessary notification. Public views and comments have also been solicited and the committee will also consult various stakeholders including transport unions, students, officials of various departments, oil companies and general public," Chowdhary said.
He said that strict instructions have also been issued to transport department and traffic police to check and monitor 50 per cent concession for students and physically handicapped passengers.
