During visit by a team of NGO to the hospital yesterday, organisation founder Vivek Pandit claimed that it was found that at least 25 per posts in hospital are lying vacant, thus causing hardship to villagers.
District civil surgeon Dr B C Kempi Patil was quoted as saying in the release issued by Sanghatana that of the total sanctioned 473 posts of Class-I and other staff in the hospital, 1,114 are lying vacant since long.
Posts of class-I medical officers of departments like gynaecology, surgery, ophthalmology, psychology are vacant while similar is the case with posts of class III and Class IV.
"It was also observed that staffers worked with limited resources and facilities. The hospital has a capacity of 368 beds which are always occupied, while nearly 600 to 700 patients visit the hospital every day. It was learnt that the CT scan machine is not operational from more than last one-and -half-years," he said.
Similar is the case with the dialysis machine, out of the total nine ventilators, only four were functional, said Pandit.
