A committee headed by the Collector has been formed in every district of Maharashtra to ensure that locals get jobs in industries set up in the state, Industries Minister Subhash Desai informed the Legislative Assembly today.
Replying to a discussion by Sudhakar Kolhe (BJP) and others during the Question Hour on the issue of migrants from other states getting employment in industrial units in Nagpur, Desai said the work done by these committees will be monitored on a state-level and appropriate steps would be taken.
Desai said as per a Government Resolution (GR) of November 17 2008, it is mandatory for industrial units to employ 80 percent locals.
Industrialists complain that they don't get skilled manpower among locals. This is why skilled development scheme has been conceptualised, he said.
Many members complained that labourers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are brought on contract and employed in Vidarbha. To which Minister of State for Industries, Pravin Pote Patil said the ministry would ensure in 15 days that locals get employment in industrial units set up across the state.
