Chief Minister Oommen Chandy received the articles on behalf of the Museum from Rao's grand daughter Urmila Lal here last evening.
The collection, throwing light into the culture and tradition of the princely state of Travancore, included a sword with silver handle, two daggers, a rare music box, silver spoons and some ivory artefacts.
Rao, who played a major role in building Travancore as a modern state, served as the divan (prime minister) of the princely state for 15 years from 1858.
