The death of Rashad Harden, who was popularly known as DJ Rashad, was confirmed by Chicago Police.
The DJ was reportedly found dead by a friend in a Chicago West Side apartment Saturday afternoon of an apparent drug overdose, reported Variety.
DJ Rashad had a full year of touring clubs around the world lined up.
Detroit's DJ Godfather, who was set to play with Harden yesterday, tweeted the news of his passing on Saturday.
"RIP to my long time friend DJ Rashad. Great friend and producer. I loved all the music we released over the years. You will be missed!," DJ Godfather had tweet.
He became a well-known force in the city, playing in many clubs and performing at last year's Pitchfork Music Festival, where he was set to play again this year.
