Water Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam held a meeting with protesting engineers of the DJB (Delhi Jal Board) yesterday, following which the decision to put off the agitation was taken, a member of the engineers' body said.
However, there was no let up on the government's tirade against DJB CEO Keshav Chandra, as a case against him has been referred to the Delhi Assembly's privilege committee.
"The assembly panel is probing a case related to irregularities in the tendering process of 14 sewage treatment plants and the CEO was asked to appear before it over this issue. Instead of calmly responding to the queries, he shouted at the members of the panel.
"Few officials were later misguided and misled into agitating and hampering work of DJB. I have spoken to them and have sorted out the issue. The panel has every right to enquire about spending of tax payers' money on these projects," Gautam told PTI.
