The UGR will be constructed at a total estimated cost of Rs 80.26 crore, which includes its operation and maintenance (O & M) costs, feeder line and peripheral lines network. The project is part of the recommendations of the Delhi Water Master Plan 2021, a senior DJB official said.
"At present, the residents of the North East Wazirabad area in Karawal Nagar and Mustafabad assembly constituencies are facing problem of low pressure. In many lanes, houses situated at the tail end of the water supply network are not even getting piped water.
According to officials, commissioning of the plant will benefit around 2.5 lakh people residing in Sonia Vihar, Shriram Colony, Chandbagh, Sabhapur, Chauhan Patti, Paschim Karawal Nagar, Kamal Vihar extension, Sabhapur Village, Rama Garden, Shanti Nagar, Shiv Vihar- Phase 6, 8, 9 and 10.
"DJB is committed to extending efficient water services to new areas in the city and we are working 24x7 to ensure that drinking water needs of the people are met," DJB Chief Executive Officer S S Yadav said.
