After conducting two men's events of the recently launched Asian Tennis Tour (ATT), the DLTA is set to host a women's event from Monday.
National champion Prerna Bhambari, Rishika Sunkara and Eetee Maheta are expected to compete in USD 7000 event.
"After receiving encouraging response from the players and national federations for the men's tournaments, the Asian Tennis Tour has also started conducting tournaments for the women players," a DLTA release said.
It will be third women's event on the ATT with first two being held in Thailand. Chompoothip Jandakate, a Thai player ranked outside 1000 had won both the tournaments held in Hua Hin. She beat higher-ranked players in the field which also had three Indian players.
"We discussed the prospect of adding women's events to the Tour some time back. Many national federations showed keen interest to hosts women's events and we went ahead with it. It is a good opportunity for upcoming players to earn good money as well as earn confidence to compete on the ITF women's tour," the release added.
ATT has so far conducted seven tournaments, including five men's and two women's events. The inaugural ATT tournament was held at the DLTA in April.
