A delegation of DMK leaders led by its Parliamentary Party leader T R Baalu called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum.

Though a viable revival proposal had been recommended to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), it had not considered the HPF revival proposal while the Government came forward to revive many sick PSUs like Scooter India Ltd, Burn Standard, NEPA, ITI Ltd and Bharat Wagon with a pragmatic appoach.

"Inspite of dedication and goodwill reposed by the employees, the Company could not meet the challenges of multinational companies because of non-availability of level playing field while getting the raw materials and MNCs operation facility in the tax free zones", he said.

Baalu said on behalf of DMK leader M Karunanidhi and his Parliamentary party, he would request for a revival proposal or the unit may be merged with Department of Defence Production.
