Accusing DMK and Congress MLAs of instigating innocent fishermen against the Colachel Commercial Port project in the district, Union Minister of State Pon Radhakrishnan today said that he would even resign his post and launch an agitation for its implementation.
"Colachel project is a dream project of the Kanyakumari people. The Centre has allocated Rs 25,000 crore for the project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen on successful implementation of the project," he told reporters here.
He said DMK and Congress MLAs "have joined together to instigate the innocent fishermen against the project...". Instead of working for the development of the district, they were "diverting" the attention of the people, he alleged.
"If this type of politics continue, I will not mind resigning my Ministership, with the blessings of the party leaders and launch an agitation," Radhakrishnan, who represents Kanyakumari in Lok Sabha, said.
The Colachel project was holding the future for the next generation, he said, adding people should identify "selfish" politicians and sideline them.
He welcomed the Tamil Nadu government for supporting the Colachel project.
