DMK today urged the Puducherry Government to release Rs 15,000 as relief for an acre of farm land submerged in the torrential rains that lashed the Union Territory since the last few days.
Organiser of DMK's Puducherry M A S Subramanian said in a release here that the rain had caused extensive damage and deprived the workers in unorganised sector of their earnings.
The government should come out immediately with a relief package to provide Rs 15,000 for an acre of land submerged in the flood water and also Rs 2000 to each of workers in the unorganised sector as they went without work for days together.
He also wanted cash relief to those whose dwelling units were fully or partially damaged.
