A DMK MLA here today moved a court seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered against him in connection with a protest staged by local party leaders seeking a thorough probe into the unearthing of a gutka unit.
N Karthik, who represents Singanallur constituency, along with party colleague Rangaraj, moved the district court a day after police registered cases against them and eight others and arrested seven of them.
The petition is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow or on Friday.
Cases were registered against the 10 for allegedly obstructing police officials from carrying out their duty while raiding the illegal gutka unit in Kannampalayam here on April 27.
While seven persons were arrested and produced before a court which remanded them to 15 days judicial custody yesterday, police are on the lookout for Karthik, Rangaraj and Sundaram.
Meanwhile, advocates also filed petitions in Sulur Magistrate court seeking bail for seven persons arrested in this connection, they said.
