DMK moves HC over Govt painting two leaves on buses

The DMK today filed a petition before the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Tamil Nadu government to remove "two leaves" painted on the recently launched small buses contending that it resembled the ruling AIADMK's symbol.
DMK treasurer M K Stalin in his petition also sought a direction to the Election Commission to initiate action against AIADMK for violating the Representation of People Act by painting its party symbol on government buses using public funds.
The petitioner submitted that the Election Commission was yet to act on his petition in which it complained of abuse of power by the ruling party by displaying its symbol.
Justice K K Sasidharan, before whom the petition came up for hearing, adjourned it for tomorrow.
Stalin also submitted that the government has renovated former Chief Minister MGR's memorial at a cost of Rs 7.70 crore utilising public money.
