Alleging police excesses, Stalin who is also the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly said, "Police resorted to attack and indulged in excesses in the peaceful protests held in a democratic manner for Jallikattu."
The senior DMK leader called on Governor Rao at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum seeking inquiry into the alleged police excesses.
"I urge you to set up a judicial commission of inquiry by a sitting High Court judge to go into the excesses," he said in the memorandum.
"In all cities including Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai, police blindly attacked the agitators resulting in them getting injured seriously," he alleged.
He said such police action rather than establishing peace were alleged "atrocious activities.
