DMK, which has been boycotting the Tamil Nadu assembly demanding permanent closure of Sterlite's copper unit, today said a decision on ending its protest will be taken at a party meeting to be held tomorrow.
DMK Working President M K Stalin said a decision on this will be taken at the meeting of party MLAs and district secretaries to be held at party headquarters in Chennai.
Pointing to the appeal from friendly parties and his party's parent outfit, Dravidar Kazhagam's chief K Veeramani, that DMK should end the boycott, Stalin said their appeal will be deliberated at the meet and a "good decision," will be taken.
The DMK top leader made the remark here at a party-held event to felicitate party chief M Karunanidhi ahead of his birthday on June 3 when he will turn 94.
Karunanidhi, who has been largely confined to home due to age-related ailments, did not participate in the event which was attended by a host of leaders from opposition parties.
On 29 May, Stalin announced his party will boycott the proceedings of the Assembly till the "permanent closure," of the Vedanta group's Sterlite copper unit at Tuticorin.

Calling the closure of the unit by the government after the recent violence and police firing that left 13 dead as an eye-wash, Stalin asked why a Cabinet meeting and a policy decision was not taken for ensuring the unit's permanent closure.
DMK's allies had yesterday raised in the assembly the issue of the party's boycott and urged the treasury benches to ask the principal opposition to return to the House.
Responding, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had said DMK members walked out of the House on their own and there was no bar on them resuming their democratic duty.
