The DMK has urged the Election Commission of India to direct the office of CEO in the state to display the list of officials on election duty with their retirement dates on its website to facilitate transparency.
In a memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath, the DMK said the EC had directed the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu to obtain the list of officers who are likely to be deployed for poll duty from the state.
The state government has also been directed to furnish the list of government officials who are not retiring from their service in the near future for the purpose of deploying them on election duty.
"We welcome this and request you to direct the CEO of Tamil Nadu to furnish the list of government servants with their date of retirement on the website of the CEO, Tamil Nadu," MP and DMK Organisation Secretary T K S Elangovan said.
The information provided would bring in transparency, and would be in public interest, he added.
