DMRC today completed tunneling on a crucial 1.5km stretch of the upcoming Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor near Palam, which will play a major role in providing connectivity with the domestic terminal of IGI Airport.
According to Anuj Dayal, DMRC Executive Director (Corporate Communications), the tunnel which started from the Palam Metro station emerged in the defence land at the end of the Dwarka flyover (Dhaula Kuan end) after covering a distance of 1.51km from where the alignment becomes elevated.
Dayal said the 1.5km long corridor will play a major role in connecting areas like Janakpuri, Dabri, Palam with important locations such as the domestic terminal of IGI Airport, Hauz Khas, IIT, Nehru Place, Jamia Milia University and NOIDA.
The tunnel boring machine had started work in March this year and another tunnel running parallel is expected to be completed by next month.
