Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed transport authorities not to impound buses especially during school hours.
"Rather, the bus contractors along with the school authorities can be summoned and asked to ensure the compliance of the Supreme Court guidelines," commission Chairman Sukesh Kalia said, according to an official release.
Kalia also expressed concern over the fact that some drivers having licenses of goods vehicles were driving school buses, which he said was "highly objectionable and illegal".
The transport officials were also asked to check and verify the documents including the validity of the drivers' licence, it was stated.
