However, as a sign of protest, doctors wore black bands on their wrists to work.
Three doctors and a compounder of different government hospitals were arrested Saturday after a local news channel caught them issuing fake medical certificates to fit persons on payment in a sting operation.
Following this, at least 1,300 doctors, under the aegis of
Indian Medical Association (IMA), went on strike for at least two days demanding the release of the three arrested doctors.
IMA general secretary Praveen Katiyar said that, "the agitation is still on, but there is no halt in the hospital work and all the things are being done but with a black band tied on their arms."
Katiyar added that the strike has been called off for the day, without divulging any further details on the issue.
