Doctor caught for conducting sex-determination test in Sonipat

Haryana Health department today caught a doctor at a nursing home in Ganaur, for allegedly conducting illegal sex determination test.
The ultrasound machine was sealed and a case was also registered against him for allegedly violating the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act, an official spokesman said.
The Chief Medical Officer, Sonipat, Dr J.S. Punia got information that sex determination tests were being carried out at Bhatia Nursing Home in Ganaur.
Acting on the tip-off, the team of Health Department, with the help of a middleman, sent a woman to the nursing home with currency notes bearing signatures.
The doctor demanded Rs 10,000 for conducting the test and said that report would be given on Sunday.
He said when the woman came out of the nursing home, the team conducted the raid and recovered currency notes of Rs 10,000 bearing signatures.
While checking the record, it was found that various irregularities were committed while filling up the forms of women visiting the nursing home.
