At a press conference today, Narendra R Maniar said it was the sheer negligence and incompetence of the doctor and the medical superintendent of the hospital in post-operative care after kidney transplant that led to his wife Uma Maniar's death on April 23.
"The kidney transplant, which I donated to my wife (Uma) Maniar (59), was done... Which the doctor claimed was a great success. But in a follow up post-operative treatment, she could not recover from her diarrhoea problem and succumbed to it and other illness on April 23, 2014 in ICU of same hospital," Maniar said.
"It was the sheer negligence of nephrologist and hospital's medical superintendent. Both are responsible for the death of my wife," he alleged, adding that he had spent Rs 10 to 12 lakh on treatment, transplant and post-operative care in the hospital.
In the death certificate, the doctor has said that the patient was admitted on April 20 with deranged kidney function and "CMV colitis acute rejection sev anemia", and after all the best efforts and life saving drugs, she could not be saved and was declared dead at 10:50 on April 23, 2014.
