Doctors talk hygiene to patients at Delhi hospitals

Messages on the virtues of hygiene and cleanliness are being played out at the Out Patient Department (OPD) complexes of government hospitals across the city as a part of the 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'.
"Senior and junior resident doctors and medical students are giving talks and messages using portable public address system in the OPD areas to create an awareness about sanitation among the patients and their relatives visiting hospitals.
"A 10 point appeal pamphlets mentioning how to maintain cleanliness are also being distributed in hospitals," said a senior official from the Health department.
He said that the department has embarked on an intensive cleanliness drive in hospital premises and their surroundings.
Special emphasis is being laid on bio-medical waste disposal, checking mosquito breeding places and garbage collection as part of the campaign.
