Doctors wear black bands to protest thrashing of colleague

Government hospital doctors in the district wore black arm bands today to protest against alleged thrashing of one of their colleagues in Sitapur district.
Dr Akhilesh Singh, who was posted at government hospital in Sitapur district, was allegedly assaulted by unidentified persons two days back, district president of UP Provincial Medical Services Association (UPPMSA) Dr A K Singh said here.
They beat Dr Akhilesh claiming 108 Samajwadi Ambulance Sewa failed to reach the patient in time, Singh said.
"Doctors are vulnerable to such attacks and assaults by attendants of the patients while on duty," he said.
The Association has demanded continuous security for the doctors on the hospital premises.
Doctors from Combined District Hospital at Sanjay Nagar, MMG Hospital, Women Hospital and Primary Health Centre joined the protest at work, Dr Singh said.
