Tracing the journey of four disadvantaged children from Kolkata, internationally -acclaimed documentary film 'The Revolutionary Optimists' was premiered here today.
Filmed over the course of three and a half years, the documentary followed social entrepreneur Amlan Ganguly and four of the children he worked with on an intimate journey through adolescence as they challenged the idea that being marginalised was their destiny.
Shot by Nicole Newnham and Maren Grainger-Monsen, 'The Revolutionary Optimists' focused on the world of two 12-year-olds with no access to clean drinking water; a girl forced to work in a brick kiln, and a teenage dancer on the precipice of choosing child marriage to escape from her abusive family.

It would be telecast on the Emmy Award winning series 'Independent Lens' in the United States on May 20.
It was selected to be featured as part of the new ITVS, USAID, Ford Foundation and CARE's collaborative series 'Women and Girls Lead Global'.
