The President's Secretariat has initiated a multi-volume documentation project to be carried out in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) which will bring out volumes on the making of Rashtrapati Bhavan - its architecture, archaeological significance, furniture, paintings and other artifacts.
Besides separate volumes on flora and fauna, the President's bodyguard, including its retreat at Dehradun and the Presidential retreats at Mashobra and Hyderabad will also be recorded.
"A Steering Committee comprising Rashtrapati Bhavan representatives and eminent experts from various fields met today to deliberate on the engagement of a project consultant for the above purpose," a Rashtrapati Bhavan press release said.
"In this context, a need was felt for an authentic documentation of various facets of Rashtrapati Bhavan seamlessly inter-woven into one another," it said.
While at present there are several stand alone publications or documents on Rashtrapati Bhavan, there is no authentic, officially documented narrative with an underlying, unifying theme and perspective, the release added.
