Upon sighting a dolphin swimming in a rivulet, some unidentified people shot it dead, Bharrahi police outpost in-charge Rajesh Chaudhary said.
The dead aquatic animal, weighting about 250 kg, was handed over to the forest officials, he said.
A probe was on to find out who were responsible for killing the dolphin, which figures in the list of endangered animals in the country, Chaudhary said.
