Eleven domestic carriers together ferried 79.76 lakh passengers in June 2016 as compared to 66.01 lakh passengers in June last year, thereby registering a growth of 20.81 per cent, according to the DGCA monthly air traffic data released today.
Budget carrier indiGo flown the highest number of passengers (30.23 lakh) followed by full service private carrier Jet Airways which, along with its subsidiary JetLite, ferried a total of 15.23 lakh fliers in June 2016.
The number of passengers ferried by another budget carrier GoAir stood at 6.54 lakh, according to the data.
Domestic airlines, however, witnessed a drop in their seat factor during the month compared to May 2016.
The passenger load factor in the month of June 2016 has slightly decreased compared to previous month primarily due to the end of tourist season, the DGCA data shown.
Besides, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month stood at 0.96 per cent, aviation regulator DGCA received a total of 788 passenger related complaints against the scheduled domestic airlines in June 2016.
